Welcome to the Neurohappy Blog.
This is a calm space for parents, carers, and families of neurodivergent children. Here, we share stories, gentle advice, and insights about sensory needs, nutrition, and everyday wellbeing. Over time, we’ll also be adding guest blogs from nutritionists to bring you extra expert-led support alongside lived experience.
Our hope is that you’ll feel supported, understood, and never alone on this journey.
The worry every parent knows
If you’ve ever worried about whether your child is getting the nutrients they need, you’re not alone. For many families of neurodivergent children, mealtimes can feel overwhelming — and supplements often don’t make things easier.
Our early challenges with sensory needs
My son’s sensory difficulties started at a very young age. Weaning was incredibly hard — every new food we tried, he would be sick as soon as it touched his mouth. At one stage, he couldn’t even touch sand without gagging from sensory overload.
Although things slowly became a little easier, his diet remained very limited. Fruit, vegetables, and so many of the foods that carry vital nutrients were impossible for him.
Realising we weren’t alone
Through speaking with other parents, I learned this wasn’t just our struggle. Research shows that children with autism or sensory processing challenges are five times more likely to have narrow food choices and mealtime battles compared to their peers (Autism Speaks).
This often leads to deficiencies in nutrients such as vitamin D, folate, iron, and zinc (ScienceDirect, PMC). At the same time, studies show that more than half of autistic children already take supplements, but many products aren’t designed with sensory sensitivities in mind (BMC Pediatrics).
Why I created something different
I wanted to change that. Neurohappy was born out of love for my son — and for every family facing similar challenges.
Our first product is a sensory-friendly multivitamin powder: neutral in taste, vegan, allergen-free, and easy to mix into food or drink. No battles, no stress. Just gentle support for children who need it most.
Why a multivitamin first?
When I started looking for supplements, I found the shelves overwhelming. There were so many bottles, each with one or two nutrients, and it felt like I’d need a cupboard full to cover the basics. That only added to the stress.
That’s why our first product is a multivitamin powder. It brings together key nutrients in one step, so parents don’t need to buy multiple products or manage the burden of giving lots of different supplements.
The formula includes both water-soluble vitamins (which the body uses and passes through if not needed) and fat-soluble vitamins (which are stored and released gradually when the body requires them). All fat-soluble vitamins are included at safe, carefully balanced levels — so parents can feel reassured that every detail has been designed with both effectiveness and safety in mind.

My personal journey
A few years ago, I went through a very difficult time with my mental health. What I thought was depression actually turned out to be years of masking — pushing myself to fit in until my brain had simply had enough.
It was only then that I was finally diagnosed with ADHD and autism. That diagnosis changed everything. I began to understand myself and no longer felt the need to mask. It was as though a cloud had been lifted — I finally felt free.
That freedom gave me the creativity and determination to design something the world was missing. This journey has taught me that being neurodivergent is not a limitation — it’s a strength.
I also spent 18 years working in healthcare, most recently as an HCPC-registered paramedic. Caring for others has always been at the heart of who I am. Leaving that career was not easy, but I chose to put my all into Neurohappy because I believe so strongly in the difference it can make.
A little progress, a lot of hope
Today, my son’s diet is still selective, but there’s been real progress. With the right support, he’s calmer, happier, and more confident. Seeing these changes gave me the belief that Neurohappy could help other families too.
